Comprehensive Eye Exams
Periodic eye and vision examinations are crucial for preventive health care, as many problems may not be immediately apparent. It is therefore possible to prevent vision loss through early diagnosis and treatment. Each patient’s signs and symptoms lead to tests, which are determined by the doctor’s professional judgment. Vision Gallery is involved in holistic eye exams that do more than just giving glasses or contact lenses, they also check for eye health and visual functions.

Diabetic Eye Disease
Diabetic retinopathy is an eye disease that only affects diabetics. It occurs when the fragile vascular network that supplies the retina – the light sensitive tissue at the back of the eye that helps us see – begins to swell or leak. During the beginning stages of the disease, there may be no noticeable symptoms, so it’s important to have your eyes checked at least once a year, if you have diabetes.

Contact Lens Exam
Over 22% of people wear eyeglasses and use contact lenses. Contact lens exam ensures whether you are suitable to wear contact lenses. Eye exams check your vision and eye health, but they don’t do the more detailed tests for prescriptions. You’ll need to do specific tests, measurements, and lifestyle questions. There are different types of contact lenses, like soft ones, ones that pass gas easily, ones that take gas, and ones that don’t. You can wear them daily, weekly, monthly, or extended, depending on how well you see without glasses. Our contact lens exams ensure a perfect fit, maximizing comfort and clarity.

Eye Disease Management
Eye diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts can be life-threatening if not detected and treated early. Management involves regular examinations, follow-ups, and procedures to reduce vision loss risk. Preventive measures include blindness prevention, cataract surgery, diabetes retinopathy prevention, and geriatric patient treatment. Nutrition advice and ongoing vision care are also crucial. Eye disease should not control one’s quality of life, so it should not control one’s life. We provide expert consultation, treatment and support for a wide range of eye conditions.

Eye Allergies
Allergy is an eye disorder characterized by redness, wateriness, itching, and sometimes swelling. Allergy in the eyes is a response to an overactive immune system that tends to perceive harmless environmental substances that the majority of people’s immune systems do not react to. SAC is the most common eye allergy in North America, especially in spring, summer, and fall. These may involve change of seasons, pollutants or some allergens that cause irritation to the eyes. We offer solutions to reduce discomfort and effectively manage eye allergies.

FAQ
Frequently Asked
Questions
Comprehensive eye care includes a range of services to maintain optimal eye health and vision. It includes regular eye exams, diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions, prescription of corrective lenses, and advice on eye health and safety. Comprehensive eye care addresses both vision correction and the prevention and management of eye diseases.
An optometrist provides primary vision care, prescribes glasses or contact lenses, and performs pre and post-op surgery care. They also diagnose, treat, and manage eye disease. On the other hand, ophthalmologists specialize in eye surgery, disease management, and advanced treatments, i.e., Cataract Surgery, LASIK, and Retinal Detachment Repair) for complex eye conditions.
Nearsightedness, also known as myopia, is a vision condition in which you see close objects clearly, but distant objects appear blurry. This happens when your eyeball is slightly too long, or the cornea has too much curvature that focuses light rays in front of the retina instead of directly on it. The use of glasses or contacts can bend the light rays to land properly on your retina, letting you see faraway objects clearly.
Some of the steps that can be taken in order to control myopia in children include limiting screen time, ensuring proper lighting while reading, encouraging outdoor activities to reduce eye strain, and regular check-ups. Prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses may correct vision, while newer methods like low-dose atropine eye drops or orthokeratology (night-time contact lenses) can slow progression.
Yes, glaucoma can be diagnosed by an OD that is glaucoma-certified. This is done through a variety of eye tests, including tonometry (a test to measure eye pressure), optic nerve tests, and visual field testing. If symptoms are present, optometrists may refer patients to an ophthalmologist for further treatment.
Yes, blurred vision can occur due to dry eyes. The tear film in the eyes becomes unstable when there are insufficient oils or insufficient tears, resulting in an abnormal composition of tears on the ocular surface. This can lead to blurry vision, mainly while performing activities that require prolonged visual focus, e.g., reading and use of digital screens.
